World Congress on regenerative medicine comes to Maastricht

The 6th World Congress of the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) will take place at the Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Center (MECC) from 31 May to 4 June 2021. This prestigious congress will proceed even if the coronavirus restrictions remain in place, with the organisers making digital options available.

This prestigious congress will proceed even if the coronavirus restrictions remain in place, with the organisers making digital options available.

Maastricht UMC+ and Maastricht University are international trendsetters in the field of regenerative medicine. For example, the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine, which is based in Maastricht, studies the development of biomaterials, tissue regeneration and 3D tissue printing. The congress is being organised in collaboration with leading sister institutes of regenerative medicine in Aachen, Louvain and Liège.

The chairperson of the upcoming world congress, MERLN's Prof. Lorenzo Moroni, is proud that Maastricht will be the capital of regenerative medicine for a few days. 'The world congress is only held once every three years and attracts two thousand specialists from all over the world. We are living in difficult times right now, of course, and we will probably have to plan to hold part of the congress in a digital format, but that does nothing to detract from the honour of organising such a prestigious event.' Maastricht follows such cities as Boston, Kyoto and Vienna as the congress location.
