Short description
M. Vlooswijk works as a neurologist at the Department of Neurology at the MUMC and the epilepsy center Kempenhaeghe Heeze (the Academic Center for Epileptology). Neurology is a medical specialty that is primarily concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the brains, spinal cord, nerves and muscles of man. In neurology she specializes in the treatment of epilepsy and the new treatment by deep brain stimulation in epilepsy.
About
Her work in health care include, in addition to the general neurology treatment of epilepsy, including the selection of patients eligible for epilepsy surgery.
She has a PhD in functional networks and cognition in patients with chronic epilepsy. As a researcher, she is still involved in research into functional networks in epilepsy.
She is also involved in the training of medical students and doctors in training to become a neurologist and the education of medical students at UM.
She is a member of the Dutch Society for Neuroscience and the Dutch League Against Epilepsy.
