Since 2003 there is in the internal medicine launched a specialized clinic for patients with deep vein thrombosis, called Clinical Care Pathway. Structured care is granted based on the most recent guidelines. New developments at an early date to implement and evaluate the clinical outcomes, the care provided is always up to date and "evidence-based". Physically located that clinic (outpatient DVT) since some years in the Heart Vascular Center. Because the clinic is in an academic setting, to patients also frequently asked to participate in research. Dr. Ten Cate-Hoek since 2003 working in the MUMC as physician and clinical epidemiologist. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of deep vein thrombosis. (Title of thesis: New developments in diagnosis and treatment of deep venous thrombosis, 2008) The prevention and treatment of post thrombotic syndrome, is currently one of the spearheads of its clinically-related research.

About

Dr. Ten Cate-Hoek since 2012 is also medical director of the thrombosis Maastricht (www.mumc.nl/.../trombosedienst/stichting-trombosedienst-maastricht) and chairman of the committee standardize medical practice of the Federation of Dutch Thrombosis Services (www. fnt.nl). She is also a member of the committee of the MUMC thrombosis, thrombosis committee is working to improve patient safety in the field of anticoagulant therapy.
