Current arrangements for operations/admissions

Maastricht UMC+ is gradually restarting its regular health services. If you will be admitted or have an operation in the near future, you will probably be curious to know how the system works now. To prepare for your visit, please read the information below. Not everything will be as you may have been used to. Please be aware that these changes are there to protect your own health and that of our staff.

Is my admission/operation going ahead?

If you are on the waiting list for an admission or an operation, the Admission Office will contact you by telephone to arrange a date. You will then receive confirmation by email or in the post. You do not have to phone us yourself.

Test for coronavirus before admission

We will phone you between 72 and 48 hours before the planned operation. We will inform you about your operation and ask whether you have any coronavirus-type symptoms.

What will happen on the day of my operation/admission?

Please come alone for your planned coronavirus test. We would also ask you to come for your operation or admission alone. If this is not possible, you may have a maximum of one person accompanying you.

On the ward

You may walk around on the ward where you have been admitted, but you must not leave the ward.
Just as in the rest of the hospital, the social distancing policy also applies on all the wards. Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from other patients and, if possible, also from healthcare workers. If it is not possible to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres, the healthcare worker will wear at least a nose and face mask.

Visiting rules

To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, our advice is not to have any visitors. If you do wish to receive visitors, please observe the rule of one visitor per patient per day. This measure also applies to the coronavirus ward.

You can address any other questions about visiting rules to staff on the ward where you are admitted.
You will find more information about visiting times on our wards here
