Biography
Teebah Abu-Zahra (1991) finished her bachelor's degree in Biology/Biotechnology at An-Najah National University in Palestine (2013). Following that, she worked in various positions in the health sector including Pharmacovigilance Associate, IVF Lab Technician, Health and Safety Inspector, and mostly as a Medical Product Specialist focusing on laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment. In 2021, she completed her master’s degree in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing at Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, where she also worked as a Teaching and Research Assistant. Now, she joined the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment at MUMC+ as a junior researcher, where she aims to obtain her Ph.D. Additionally, she is a member of the Evidence Review Group for The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Research interest and focus
Teebah’s current focus is on the role of Health Technology Assessment in value-driven drug repurposing.

Andrea Fernández Coves (1996) finished her studies in Biomedical Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid (Spain), in which she specialised in medical device development. Following her graduation, she shifted her interests to healthcare sustainability and obtained an MSc degree in Healthcare Policy, Innovation, and Management at Maastricht University (2021). She now works as a junior researcher at the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment at MUMC+, where she aims to obtain her PhD. In addition, she acts as a member of the Evidence Review Group for The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Biography

Teresa (1997) completed her Bachelor's in Economics at the University of Mannheim (Germany) in 2022. She then specialised in Economic Evaluation through the European Master in Health Economics and Management at Erasmus University Rotterdam and the Universities of Bologna and Oslo. For her Master's thesis, she conducted a trial-based cost-effectiveness analysis on proactive therapeutic drug monitoring in collaboration with the Norwegian Research Center for Treatment of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (REMEDY). Teresa joined KEMTA in October 2024, where she aims to obtain her PhD. She is also a member of KEMTA’s External Assessment Group for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), UK.

Research interest and focus

Teresa's current focus is on health economic modelling and particularly early HTA methodologies, applied to the use of explainable artificial intelligence to predict radiotherapy side effects in oncology.

Biography
Bradley Sugden (1998) completed his Bachelor Degree in Economics and Management at The University of Sheffield in 2020, and subsequently began a European Masters in Health Economics and Management, studying at the University of Oslo, Management Centre Innsbruck, and Erasmus University Rotterdam. Bradley is finalising his Master Thesis with Erasmus University Rotterdam, exploring the implementation of Shared Decision Making within mental healthcare. During his studies, Bradley has undertaken internships with two medical technology organisations in Manchester and Rotterdam, introducing him to the process of evidence submission for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in the UK, EU, and Canada. His graduate degree has allowed him to specialise in decision-making in healthcare, developing his knowledge of economic evaluations and the methods for preference elicitation. Bradley has joined the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Technology Assessment (KEMTA), where he acts as a member of the Evidence Review Group for the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (UK), and aims to complete his PhD in the field of HTA methodology.

Research Interest and focus
Bradley’s current research interests lie in early HTA and how the technology assessment process can most effectively deal with aiding decision-making under increasing uncertainty.

Biography
Mabel Wieman (2002) completed her Bachelor's in Health Sciences with a specialization in Digital Technology and Care at Maastricht University in 2023. During her minor, she followed some courses on economics at the University of Sydney. She then returned to Maastricht to start with the new Master's program in Health and Digital Transformation. For her Master's thesis, she discovered Health Technology Assessment (HTA), conducting an early cost-effectiveness analysis of a photonics-based continuous monitoring device for pressure ulcers. Mabel joined KEMTA in October 2024, where she is currently a PhD candidate. She is also a member of KEMTA’s External Assessment Group for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Research interest and focus
Mabel's current research focuses on health economic modeling, with a particular interest in uncertainty assessment within early HTAs of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
