What does the terminology on my invoice mean?
After your treatment is finished you will receive one invoice for all appointments, research and treatments you received while in treatment. These are described in a Diagnosis Treatment Combination (in Dutch DBC). For every ailment the diagnosis, Treatment ans costs have been registered. On the basis of national averages a price has been established for every DBC.
Checking the tariffs
All medical specialities, diagnoses ans treatments have their own code. These 14 figure codes together form the DBC-code. On your invoice you will also find a 6 figure code, the declaration-code. With this code you are able to check the tariff of your treatment and the corresponding DBC’s. You can check this on the internet www.nza.nl or by mail info@nza.nl. (NZa stand for Nederlandse Zorgactiviteit).
What am I paying for?
Because the hospital has to protect your privacy there is no exact description of your treatment on your invoice. If you want to know which DBC has been charged you can check the DBC-code on www.nza.nl. DBC cost rate/institution cost contribution (DBC-kostentarief kostendeling instelling) The direct costs made fort he treatment of your ailment. These costs are calculated based on average national costs for that particular ailment. They may be higher than in de past. These prices are the same for every hospital in the Netherlands.
For some treatments the hospital is allowed to establish the price for itself. These prices are published on the MUMC website (www.mumc.nl) visit this page (in dutch only)
